On October 28th, Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica as a powerful Category 5 storm, leaving behind a trail of devastation. Homes were damaged or destroyed, families were displaced, power lines were downed, and schools were left in urgent need of repairs. Among those affected were some of the students supported by the Daley & Tshuma Scholarship Foundation. Many of them faced damages to their homes and loss of school materials, creating unexpected obstacles in their educational journey. Even Rusea’s High School, our partner school, wasn’t spared—the hurricane damaged its bathroom and tore off part of the roof, leaving it unusable for students
The missions ministry at Trinity Church led a heartfelt bake sale fundraiser, trusting that God would move hearts to help those in need. Through their dedication and the generosity of donors, the Daley & Tshuma Scholarship Foundation was able to send $2,500 to Jamaica in disaster relief. These funds helped repair the school’s damaged bathroom roof and replace the books and supplies lost by students.
This outpouring of support shows God’s love in action. Through faith, compassion, and service, students can return to their classrooms with the tools they need, reminded that even after a storm, the support of a caring community makes all the difference.
